What Are You Rooted In?

I was walking by some trees in my neighbourhood today and one, in particular, caught my eyes. Compared to many on that street, this was a rather small tree but it was the roots that made me stop and stare.
For a tree that size, its roots were unusually far-reaching, wide, and strong – enough to protrude from the concrete of the sidewalk. It made me think of roots, specifically about the importance of being rooted in God’s Word and in HIM.
When His WORD is our soil and strength, then just like that little tree, we will grow strong enough to push through the hardest concrete that life imposes on us.
When God’s Word is our Living Water, we will remain refreshed and fed – even through the harshest circumstances and drought.
Today, think about what you are rooted in… What can you do to become rooted in the strength of God’s Word and Presence? How can you grow strong and far-reaching like that little tree on the sidewalk?
“He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” – Jeremiah 17:8
